Born and raised in Adelaide, Josh grew up dreaming of becoming a dancer. He started dancing when he was nine years old, performing in jazz, tap and modern. After completing high school he continued his dancing, mostly performing at corporate gigs, while working odd jobs to pay the bills.
At the age of 22 Josh took on the role of B2 in the Bananas in Pyjamas live concert, and to this day he still tours the country performing for children.
In 2003 when he was 23 years old, Josh got a job at a clothing store in Adelaide, looking after their window displays as well as serving customers. It was during this time that he realised his true calling and decided he wanted a career in fashion.
Moving to Sydney in 2004, Josh was quickly offered a job as the Showroom Manager at PR agency Spin. While at Spin, Josh was responsible for looking after a number of boutique and mainstream fashion brands, which provided him with invaluable experience within the tumultuous world of Fashion PR. During this time, Josh also did work experience at Australian Fashion Week and after six months, was offered a full-time position as Office Manager and Client Liaisons Manager.
For three seasons Josh worked closely with Fashion Week’s stable of emerging designers and coordinated the accessories showcase The Source. Josh was also the head dresser for Melbourne Fashion Week.
In 2007 at the age of 27 Josh decided to peruse a freelance career and left Fashion Week). His first client was fashion label Silence is Golden. Acting as Brand Manager, Josh managed sales, PR and marketing. A career highlight was escorting the label to New York for the Austrade event G’Day USA. Josh actually briefly featured in Australia's Next Top Model Series 4, when Silence is Golden was one of the labels the final 2 contestants attended Fashion Week castings for!
Josh continued freelance work in a variety of positions within the Australian Fashion industry for the next few years – his experience within PR, marketing, retail and events adding to his ever-increasing portfolio of fashion knowledge.
At the start of 2010, Josh gained a position as a model booker, a role which saw him nurture and guide both fresh and professional models in runway training, editorial and fashion photography instruction, and make-up and styling direction.
Cycle 6 of Australia's Next Top Model was Josh’s first foray into mainstream television. Josh’s acerbic wit and sartorial flair resonated with contestants, viewers and the media. However, it was his undeniable passion for the contestants that set him apart from his contemporaries.
Josh worked tirelessly to impart his years of industry experience with every contestant, ensuring each model was fully equipped with the ‘tools’ needed to build a successful career and was often quoted saying, “My job is to not make them famous but make them into real models.”
Along with his continuing role of Australia's Next Top Model Mentor for Series 7, Josh is now an in-demand Fashion Commentator. He regularly appears in Grazia, OK! Magazine, MX and on Channel 7's The Morning Show, imparting his evaluations of fashion news like the true expert he is. And, as if he wasn’t busy enough, Josh is now also the Fashion Publicist for the Alex Perry label.
