Summer Rayne Oakes was researching toxins in sewage sludge, identifying aquatic insects, rocking n' rolling in rainforests, and mapping invasive species when she was struck with the idea that the fashion industry might be a good venue to disseminate environmental awareness. So, she slung her hiking boots to her travel pack and started down a road of values-based modeling making her what many call, "The World's First Eco-Model."

Now arguably one of the most youthful, energetic voices in the environmental movement, Summer Rayne's unique career combines her activism and image with her environmental expertise. A Cornell University graduate, Udall environmental scholar, environmental scientist, and recently-annoited author of the book, "Style, Naturally," Summer Rayne is involved heavily with the international youth climate change movement; sustainable development and forest conservation in Africa; and is the go-to guru on sustainable style. She works with many brands - such as Discovery Networks, Payless ShoeSource, Portico Home+Spa, RecycleBank, and others - both in-front of the camera as a spokesperson and behind-the-scenes as a sustainability advisor and consultant.

She has received numerous accolades for her work including Vanity Fair's "Global Citizen," Cosmo's "Fun, Fearless Female," Outside's "Top Environmental Activists," Hearst Publication's inaugural "Heart of Green" Pathfinder Award; Glamour's "70 Women of Green," AMICA's "Top 20 Trendsetters under 40, and CNN's "Young People Who Rock."

She is currently a host on Discovery's new environmental lifestyle network, Planet Green.
